Over in John 15:9-11 it says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If you keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” He says if you live in that love you are going to over flow in that joy.
A lot of Christians don’t want to walk in this kind of love, they want to walk in self-centeredness. Christianity is bigger than that, it’s not about self. I’m not telling you that God doesn’t love you and that He is not concerned with you. God loves you and God cares about you. But this is a principal in the kingdom of God that if we walk in this love, then God takes care of everything else. When we step out of that love into self-centeredness, we stop the flow. Christianity is all about letting the love of God flow out of us to others.
One of our church members is on the police force and he was sharing with me that he was called out to 2 suicide calls. One man killed himself and the other guy he talked out of it. I want to tell you something every unsaved person you come across needs to be on a suicide watch. They are all trying to kill their self in some way. Some are doing it quick with a gun, others are doing it slowly with pills, alcohol, self-condemnation, but they are all dying. They may have a smile on their face out in public, but I promise you behind closed doors at home, they are depressed and ready to give up. They are wanting to know what life is all about. What is the purpose of living? Why not just die and get it over with? That’s the way they think and child of God, you are either watching them do it or you are trying to prevent it, one of the two.
We are the revelation of God’s love to a lost and dying world and it’s the only love that they are going to see. You can change the world around you. You have that power, you really do. Jesus said, whoever sins you remit are remitted, you have the power to do it.
