I got saved and then later on I got baptized and I came straight way up out of the water, and all of a sudden I had never worshiped God in my whole life, but I began to speak in another language and my hands shot up in the air and I began to rejoice and praise God. That’s what the Spirit of God does when He’s in you and activated on the inside of you. He will draw you into that intimate place where you are worshiping God. It’s change. We like the way we are and we want to stay the way we are. God is looking to transform us into His image and His glory. The first step is worshiping God. God is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit.
Football fans have more spirit than church people. Fans getting all pumped up and excited over a piece of pigskin that 12 men have been fighting over all day. I don’t know what you have, but what I have is greater than any football fan or any other fan that this world has. I have the Living God on the inside of me, who has delivered me from the powers of darkness and translated me into the kingdom of His dear son, He has made me righteous, He filled me with His divine nature, prospered me in everything that I do, filled me with His love, filled me with joy, and filled me with peace and filled me with long suffering. Child of God, I have something good and I can’t help but praise Him! I don’t praise Him just at church, sometimes I praise Him when I’m driving down the road. There have been times when I have just pulled off to the side of the road and had a Holy Ghost meeting. I get so pumped up thinking about what God has done for me and in me, that I just can’t hold on to it and it has to come out.
Exodus 8:28 says, “So Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away.” Worship requires change and the devil knew that and he said okay you can worship but just do it here. Of course Moses didn’t go for that. Partial change is still trying to control God. The devil is going to give in a little. Most Christians get born again and they say well I’m going to change I am going to church. Praise the Lord, I go to church Sunday mornings. That is just partial change. When we are born of the spirit of God and when God becomes preeminent in our life, in Him you live and move and have your being and when He’s your all and all, then you don’t have to get up and get blessed to praise the Lord. I am blessed when I get up because I know my sins are gone, I know the blood covered me, I know His Spirit is in me and when I get up I am just ready to praise God all day long.
That partial change that He is talking about works good with people who know it’s right to worship God, but yet they are still looking for something to hold on to. I know I am supposed to worship God, but what would people think of me? Do you know that a lot of churches have moved the Holy Spirit to the back room? Many churches don’t want to worship God because that makes them not seeker friendly. I would much rather be Holy Ghost friendly.
