Revelation 19:10 says, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘See that you do no do that!’ I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Think about it; what does a prophecy do? It tells the future, it tells what is going to take place. He said, “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Prophecy tells the future and has the power to change the atmosphere around you and changes the way things are. The testimony of Jesus is us ‘declaring’ what Jesus has done and get in agreement with what He said. It is a spirit of prophecy that changes our atmosphere/environment and releases the power of God. I don’t think we understand the power behind the testimony. The testimony is not about what the devil is doing or has done, in your life. The testimony is about what God has done and it is a spirit of prophecy that we should release. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about: awhile back we had a night set apart just for healing and I released the testimony and I said, “if you come tonight then Jesus is going to heal you.” There was a young man who came that night who had migraine headaches and that night he walked in and was instantly delivered! I didn’t lay hands on him or pray for him, all I did was just release the spirit of prophecy by testimony. In other words; I testified what Jesus would do.
The testimony takes on a lot of different forms, for instance, the fact that you got born again is a testimony and you can testify to people of that fact. In other words, you are a witness to the fact that Jesus rose from the dead because you have been born again, just like He said would happen, once He rose from the dead. That’s a testimony! If you’ve ever been healed in your body, that is a testimony! My wife has a testimony of what God did in her finances when she was broke and single. She had two kids and didn’t know how she was going to make it. She had been married, but her husband walked out on her. At that time she also had cancer and no place to go, but she did have a job, although it didn’t pay very much. She started depending upon the word of God in the realm of finances and began acting on what the word of God said in that area. Once she began to do that, God changed her life and He supernaturally met her needs over and over again. Now, when she shares that testimony, it empowers others to experience God’s provision; that is what a testimony does. That’s why the word of God tells us that it is the spirit of prophecy, because it has the power to reproduce itself. The testimony is powerful! God has given us the authority to release the testimony and when we do, it brings forth a power from God to reproduce themselves in our lives and in the lives of others. We can release that spirit over other people’s lives and if they believe it, they can receive it, it’s just that simple, God didn’t make it hard. The power God gave us is in us!
