Luke 18:7-8 “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of Man comes, will He really find ‘faith’ on the earth?” I want you to notice the last part, which is, will he really find ‘faith’ on the earth? The way he worded this makes me think that faith is not what a lot of us think it is. A lot of Christians are using their faith to worry about whether or not they’re going to have enough money to get through the month; whether or not they’re going to get rid of this headache they’ve got, or for something they want in life; that’s a big deal in the mind of a lot of Christians. I’m not saying we shouldn’t use our faith for those types of things, but I believe that faith goes way beyond that and if we really use faith for what God intends it to be used for, I believe all of that other stuff will just fall in to place. When I was in the Marine Corp., I got paid, it wasn’t much, but I got paid like clockwork. I never worried about whether or not I was going to be paid or not. It was to just do my job and not worry about the pay. As children of God, our job is to be conformed to the image of Christ, to obey God, and to carry on the ministry He began.
Ephesians 2:10 says that we are His workmanship and that we were created for good works. You might be wondering, “well what are the good works?” The good works are the same works that Jesus did. As a matter of fact, He said in John 14, that the works I do, you will do also. Many Christians think they have to have the understanding before they’ll do the ‘works’ that He did. But we are told in Proverbs, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Christians have had that verse backwards, what he’s saying there is, understanding comes after we allow Him to direct our paths. If we have to have the understanding before we move, then there is no faith involved in that, that is reasoning. Most people don’t have a clue how by just putting their key into the ignition of their vehicle, putting it into gear, giving it a little gas, makes their vehicle go. But that doesn’t stop them from driving it! It’s the same thing with the Word of God, we don’t have to understand everything, all we have to do is just do what Jesus did.
As children of God, we are called to carry on the ministry Christ began. Unfortunately, the majority of the church world has been hiding behind four walls thinking that the world is going to come to them. Folks, you have to realize that they’re not coming to us! For the most part, sinners go out on Saturday nights, get drunk, do dope, get in fights, and then wind up in jail. They don’t do all of that and then wake up on Sunday mornings and say, “well, I think I’ll go to church today.” It’s not about waiting on them to come to us, it’s about God’s people rising up in the power and anointing of the Holy Ghost that is within them and going out into the world and changing the world around them, one person at a time.
