Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth; but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe (see how) to do according to all that is written, for then: you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” God is telling Joshua here to meditate in this thing day and night. Biblical meditation is important! He said, meditate day and night or in other words, think right, talk right, and meditate on it day and night. Right thinking and right talking is the key to increasing in the presence of God. The word of God tells us in Hebrews 11:5 that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is not leaving, He is always with us; He’s there! The problem, for the most part, is Christian’s are just simply unaware of His presence.
In Psalms 119:99, the Psalmist tells us, “that your testimonies are my meditation.” In other words, David meditated (thought on the things God had promised and had done [God’s testimonies]). Now, I want to take you over to Psalm 16:8, which says, “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” David said, he set the Lord before him; this is something he chose to do. What we set before us, what we look at, what we behold, and what we meditate upon will determine the presence that is going to be with us. When we set God before our face and we meditate upon his testimonies; then He’s before us and at our right hand. What do you think about? What do you talk about? What do you set before your face?
We need to realize that God is with us and that He is with us for a purpose; we have a job to do. We are in His army and we are in a battle for the lost of this world; that’s why we are still here. The church world needs to get back in the battle. Battlefields are no fun, they can be frightening at times, but they are necessary and so are the battlefields for souls for establishing the house of God; the city of refuge. You might be thinking, “Well how am I going to do it?” By meditating on His testimonies. When you do that; God will remind you that He is working His will on the inside of you. In other words, think right, talk right, and meditate on His testimonies day and night so that you can see how to do it.
