F.O.G. (Favor of God)

Religion tells us that to get God’s blessings and favor we need to prostrate ourselves before God, plead with and beg Him, then perhaps He will bless us. But Ps 5:12 says that the favor of God surrounds you like a shield. Why would you struggle to obtain something that already surrounds you? In the Old Testament one of the duties of the High Priest, after he finished sprinkling the blood of the animal, He would come out of temple, lift his hands and say to the people, “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious (show favor) to you.”

I know that everyone is familiar with Jesus’ ministry on earth but most are not familiar with His current ministry in heaven. He is now our High Priest of the New Covenant. Hebrews 3:1 says He is “the High Priest of our Confession.”  In the Old Testament the High Priest made the confession, but in the New Testament

we do the confessing to the High Priest. Not confessing ours sins all day long but confessing, “The Lord blesses me and keeps me; The Lord makes His face shine upon me, and the Lord is gracious to me and shows me favor.”

Instead of confessing your sins and your lack why not start saying, “the favor of God surrounds me; I have favor with God and with man. God likes me, His favor is upon me, and therefore people can’t help but be good to me and like me. Good things will come into my life today and everyday because the favor of God is like a shield, protecting me from the evil one.”
