Now, I want to read this story in the last parable, it is over in Luke 15:11-32, Jesus said, “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, Father give me the portion of good that falls to me. So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country and there wasted his possessions in riotous living. But when he had spent all, there rose a severe famine in the land, and he began to be in want. Then he went and he joined himself to the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed the swine.”
You have got to realize, that this is something you just don’t do if you are a Jew. You don’t touch pigs, there isn’t anything more unclean than a swine to a Jew. Here this boy had asked his Dad, hey Dad how about splitting up your money right now with me and my brother, so I can live now and not when you die. And the Dad said okay, he gives him half and he gives the other son half. The younger son takes off, he blew every dime he could get his hands on and wound up feeding swine. He got as low down as you could get, you couldn’t get any lower than that.
In verse 16-17 says, “And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, but no one would give him anything. But when he came to himself. Notice, that it says he came to himself.
I have met over, and over Christians who have kids that are in the world and you feed them. You are so worried about them, that you will get them out of anything they get themselves into. You will give them money for every problem they are going through. That could be one of the worst things you could do, because as long as you do, they will never come to themselves.
This boy’s Dad had helped him out of everything that he had gotten into. This Father spent all of his money on his son. The father loved the son. But folks the son had to come to himself.
The son had to wake up and say wow, what am I going to do? That is what drove him back to his father. He had this moment and he said, how many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough to spare and I perish with hunger, I will arise and go to my father and say to him I have sinned against heaven and before you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son, make me like one of your hired servants and he arose and came to his father. He came up with a plan.
The boy came to himself and said man what have I done, and he turned around and took off back to his father house. The bible says, that the father was looking for him and saw him from a long way off and the father took off running toward him and hugged him and kissed him.
The boy was saying, Dad I’ve blown it and his Dad just cut him off and said, son I don’t want to hear it, it doesn’t matter what you did. I will take you just the way you are. You don’t have to come to God and tell him about all of your sins, He doesn’t care. He wants you just like you are. He just says come on, come on. I love you just like you are. What a loving God He is!
