A Picture Of A Renewed Mind Part 3

Jesus had a renewed mind. Now, He was not born that way.  The word of God says, He grew in wisdom, He grew in stature, and He grew in favor with God and with man. He grew that way, He didn’t just become that way overnight. He wasn’t just born in the world and had the answers of every problem in the world. He grew in the word of God and He matured in it. If you will study His miracles, you find that His miracles became greater and greater through His life. Same thing in your ministry and my ministry we don’t start out seeing everything instantly. We start out where we are at and we grow in that.

If you want to see a renewed mind, look over in Philippians 2:1-15. This chapter here is awesome, you ought to spend some time meditating in these things. It says in verses 1-2 if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection of mercy, fulfill my joy by being like minded, having the same love, being of one accord and one mind, in verse 3 let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

That is what Jesus did. That’s the mind of Jesus. He didn’t value the fact that he was going to hang naked on a cross, He didn’t value the fact that He was going to be beat within an inch of His life, He didn’t value the fact that He was going to be ridiculed and everybody was going to leave Him. He valued us more than anything.

Look over in Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. God Almighty is working on the inside of you. We let Him out, by esteeming (valuing) others more highly than ourselves. This is really hard for Christians, because we come into the kingdom of God self-centered, and we are never taught to let go of that. We have to get rid of our self-centered attitudes.

In Philippians 2:14-15 he says here, do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

Jesus went to the cross without complaining. All of His disciples left Him and He still went without complaining. They pulled the beard from His face and He stood there without complaining. He knelt down and washed the feet of a man who would betray Him without complaining, because He esteemed or valued us more highly than He valued himself.

Let me bring this down to where we live. Eat the meal that has been set in front of you by your spouse without complaining, tithe to the Lord without complaining, show up for church on time without complaining, and help out where you are needed without complaining.

We are talking about renewing the mind, change the way you see things. Because we do have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), we just have to let it out. We just have to use it, that’s all. Quit thinking about ourselves. Well what about me? I have got my rights you know! No you don’t! Once you come into the kingdom of God, you give them up and you agree to be conformed to the image of His first born son. You agree to be become like Him and value the human race more than you do yourself. You agree to lay your life down and follow Him.
